About the Masters Football and Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Study (MAFACARI II)
As people age, their risk of developing heart disease increases. Playing football is an excellent way to stay active and keep your heart healthy. But did you know, in athletes aged 35 and over, coronary artery disease is the leading cause of sudden cardiac arrest during sport. Do you know if you are at risk?????
We have developed a free online Education Program aimed at improving cardiac health awareness in amateur football players (women and men, competitive and social) aged 35 years and over. To learn about cardiac health and how to manage your risk of heart disease, we would love you to join our research study and help us evaluate the impact of this Education Program.
To evaluate the program, half the participants will be randomly selected to complete a questionnaire now and again in 2 months, while the other half will also receive the education program. Both groups are equally important, and at the end of the study, everyone will be able to receive the education program.
Participation should take no more than an hour and a half of your time. The various activities involved can be completed at your own pace and broken up into short intervals at your convenience.
For more information about the study, and details on how to enrol, please see the attached promotional flyer or contact the Study Coordinator, Philippa (Pip) Heighes via email: Philippa.Heighes@health.nsw.gov.au
