Talent Development Program

Overview

As part of Nepean Football Association’s commitment to player development, NFA have introduced two key programs that will form the foundation of our representative and development pathway for the 2026 season.

This programs represent the first phase of a broader strategic shift in how we support and develop players across the region. While they will be the primary development offerings in 2026, further changes and enhancements are planned for 2027, as we continue to refine and expand our player pathways.

We look forward to working closely with clubs, coaches, and the wider football community to ensure the success of these programs and to build a strong future for football in the Nepean region.

About the Program

The Nepean Football Association Talent Development Program (NFATDP) will be a selection-based (Trial) development program for identified talented players currently registered and playing within the Nepean Football Association (30 clubs).

The program is conceptually similar to the FNSW Talent Support Program (for NPL Youth players), and other code development programs – where additional training and support are provided to develop and challenge talented players who continue to play for their club teams in the regular season.
The priority is to replace the current AYL program, and so U13-U16 age groups will be implemented for the 2026 season.

Program Structure

  • Male/Female Squads in each age group from U13 to U16
  • 17 players per age group (15 outfield players and 2 Goalkeepers)
  • 1 x 90-minute training session per week at Jamison Park with NFA TDP Coach
  • Semester based program. (Term 1 & 2 / Term 3 & 4)
  • Games throughout the program (vs Nepean FC, NFA Division 1 teams and another association “select” teams)
  • Players will be provided a training/playing kit, which will be in the Nepean FA colours, badged as NFA.
    • Players will be required complete the sizing form as part of their registration.
