Thank you to all the clubs who have helped us promote this via their own social media channels. This important recognition can only succeed if clubs get behind it. Congratulations to all our winners!
BLAXLAND FC: BEN COBURN
Ben is so involved in this club and has so much time for his 3 teams. Nothing is too hard for him and always going above and beyond. He has a long history with club. The kids love him and works so hard. He also assists with coaching and training the U4 and is setting a great example by involving his under 12 girls to help out. Ben is AMAZING!
BLUE MOUNTAINS FC: JO CURRIE
Jo has stepped up the Cadet referee program at BMFC through her positive attitude and excellent organisation. She has created online training and face to face training for our cadet referees. The cadet program Jo offers is invaluable as it lets coaches watch the field of play and not have to worry about leading the game. Additionally, the program supports our players to take on leadership roles in BMFC. Finally, Jo is introducing our cadets to the NRG hoping they may continue on in their refereeing role.
COLO SOCCER FC: MICHAEL VIERA
Michael’s enthusiasm and love of the sport has been instrumental to many new initiatives at the club. Michael gives up his time to Coach the 15 girls but also to assist other coaches at the club. Michael has been a very welcome asset to Colo Soccer Club.
EMU PLAINS FC: DANE BRIGGS
Dane is one of a kind. He has put in endless hours coaching our u7s team for the last 2 years. He goes out of his way to encourage the kids and teaches them all the foundation skills that will help them in the future. This year when his daughters u9s team didn’t have a coach he offered to coach them also (with help from his beautiful wife Mel when there is a clash) and is now at the fields 3 days a week helping these boys and girls. At short notice he has put up his hand to assist the club by refereeing a game and then raced from that game to his own teams to coach and he goes above and beyond what is needed of him buying equipment and rewards to help and encourage the kids each week. He makes sure every child walks away from each game with a smile and feeling more confident because of his positive and supportive energy and he spends extra time each training session helping a few of the players older siblings improve their skills too (all without complaint) and he is always the first to put his hand up to assist with the BBQ duty. Our kids just love him so much and as a team we really wanted to see him acknowledged for all the time and effort he puts in each and every week!
GLENMORE PARK FC: KARISSA PLEASANCE
Karissa coaches my son’s team and cares a great deal for all the boys she coaches. She is also part of Glenmore Park FC Committee, always on ground duty and helping out other teams. She organised an awesome raffle for the Females in Football Week. She organises special occasions like half time heroes for our boys’ teams.
SPRINGWOOD UNITED FC: DALE WADE-FERRELL
Dale has been a long standing Committee member who has devoted countless hours to the Club over a number of years. First serving on our Football Committee as Coaching Co-ordinator, then taking on the role of Football Manager in 2022. This year Dale leads the Club as our Chairman. Dale always has a member first approach to all that he undertakes at Springwood United. This year in particular, he has been guiding our Football Committee, who are mostly new members, through their first year of governance while also keeping our Club canteen operating in the absence of a Canteen Manager, this has been a mammoth undertaking and one which Dale does with enthusiasm, kindness and always with a smile on his face. Dale is a great advocate for football not only at SUFC, but also in the wider Blue Mountains region, working collaboratively with other Clubs in the area to promote the sport and its benefits. We would love to see Dale recognised for his contribution to Springwood United and grassroots football.
WARRADALE FC: ABBIE STRETKOWICZ
Abbie is officially our registrar but over the last few years has become one of our go to people for almost everything! She has continually pushed the club forward wherever and whenever she sees opportunity. She has been the driving force behind juniors Wanderers experiences, women’s football promotional events and a critical member of our summer soccer sub-committee.
